Making use of ceramic waste in hot bituminous mixtures as a partial substitute for natural aggregates of limestone origin in base and intermediate layers, and for aggregates of siliceous origin in the wearing course
This project involves the creation of synthetic aggregates from recycled ceramic waste, which is then used to produce hot bituminous mixtures. This process enables the creation of a new product (namely, a more sustainable aggregate) that reduces the consumption of natural resources, eliminates construction waste and improves mechanical performance and durability for all types of traffic. This project was funded by the Government of Valencia’s Small and Medium-Sized Industry (IMPIVA) programme.
